I have never cared for Limbaugh's kind of politics. I've always felt like the right-wing talk radio host's sole purpose was to further polarize America and push conservatives further away from a middle ground. In spite of that, I am saddened that his cancer is terminal. I would like to see his condition turn around, but he doesn't seem to think that it will. Chicagoan Albert Khoury, 54, underwent a double lung transplant Sept. 25, 2021 to treat stage 4 lung cancer. (Courtesy of Northwestern Medicine) Six months ago, Chicagoan Albert Khoury underwent a double lung transplant to treat stage 4 lung cancer at Northwestern Medicine. It was the first time such a procedure was performed there on a patient with what was deemed to be terminal lung cancer. Khoury, 54, is now doing well and has no signs of cancer. Mariena Browning of Pocatello, Idaho, was just 22 when she noticed a strange lump in her groin during the summer of 2018. Over the next few weeks, the lump grew and more lumps — swollen lymph nodes — appeared. She saw her primary care doctor, who referred her for an ultrasound and biopsy. The results indicated melanoma. Browning then traveled to the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, where she was diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic melanoma with no primary source. "They did a full body exam, checked all my moles and removed any mole they saw," Browning says. "None of them were positive for melanoma or any sort of cancer. It just happened, unfortunately." Her care team recommended that she join a clinical trial, but the trial was stopped just as Browning was set to join. In the meantime, new lumps developed on her stomach and neck.
