Patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer who have smoked or currently smoke may have an increased risk of disease recurrence, according to recent study results. Marilyn L. Kwan, lead author on the study and senior research scientist in the division of research at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California, explained that tobacco is a known risk factor for developing bladder cancer, as it accounts for up to 50% of diagnoses. However, the role of tobacco smoking on bladder cancer prognosis is unclear. She and other researchers sought to evaluate this association in a population of 1,472 patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer 2.3 months after diagnosis. Abstract Abundant evidence has indicated that the prognosis of cutaneous melanoma (CM) patients is highly complicated by the tumour immune microenvironment. We retrieved the clinical data and gene expression data of CM patients in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database for modelling and validation analysis. Based on single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) and consensus clustering analysis, CM patients were classified into three immune level groups, and the differences in the tumour immune microenvironment and clinical characteristics were evaluated. Epithelioid sarcoma is a rare mesenchymal-origin tumor [1] present in less than 1% of patients with soft tissue tumors [2-5]. It was first described in 1970 by Ezinger [6]. According to the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program, the incidence rate is 0.03/100,000 in the European Union and 0.05/10,000 in the United States (US), with a higher incidence in males (2:1) [7].
