Zilpah Sheikh, MD

Zilpah Sheikh, MD, attended Liaoning Medical University, P.R. China, in 2012, earning her bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery (MBBS) followed by her master's degree from the Crimean Federation, Russia, in 2016. She is a competent dermatologist skilled in diagnosing and treating a variety of skin conditions and co-morbidities associated with them. She has been actively involved in the creation of medical content. She is experienced in medical writing, reviewing, and designing content strategies for the general public and doctors. Saira Z Sheikh, MD

Dr. Saira Sheikh is board certified in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology and Allergy/Immunology. She is Director of the UNC Rheumatology Lupus Clinic and Director of the Clinical Trials Program at the UNC Thurston Arthritis Research Center.

Dr. Sheikh's work involves answering scientific questions that directly impact the care of patients with complex immunologic diseases, mainly Lupus. She is Principal Investigator on numerous clinical trials involving new therapeutics in Lupus, as well as Principal Investigator on translational projects focused on understanding the development of biomarkers in autoimmune disease. Her projects apply an integrated approach of research, teaching, and clinical practice to advance team science through clinical trials, basic and translational research collaborations and community-based studies. She is working on a national level to develop programs to address racial disparities in Lupus clinical trials. She is actively involved in the education of patients, medical students, residents and sub-specialty fellows.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (FAAAAI), the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (FACAAI) and a member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).

    • Huma Sheikh, MD, operates her own private practice specializing in migraine and stroke. She formed the Migraine and Vascular Section for the American Headache Society with her colleague. In their work, they completed a systematic review looking at the use of oral contraceptives in women with migraine. Before starting her private practice, Dr.Sheikh joined Mount Sinai Hospital as an assistant professor. Today, Dr.Sheikh treats patients with acute strokes at Mount Sinai in addition to her Locum Tenens work concentrating on stroke with Westchester Hospital. 

    She has also contributed to a number of medical publications. Dr. Sheikh was awarded the Teacher of the Year award at Mount Sinai-Beth Israel Hospital, the Frontier in Headache Award, and received a grant from the International Headache Society.
